As part of the Magnetic Island Solar Suburb transformation, all meters on suitable homes and buildings will be upgraded to new smart meters.

Smart meters are located on your switchboard and measure electricity in 30 minute intervals.

When used in conjunction with an ‘ecoMeter’ in-house display, you can determine not only how much electricity you use, but when you should use it.

This information will help you understand your electricity use better, which is a first step towards reducing it.

Ergon Energy installed the first smart meter on Magnetic Island in February 2008 and will upgrade all meters on suitable buildings across the island.
